A number of stand out performances from defenders sees the back line take centre stage in this week’s edition of the Manx Men’s and Ladies club team of the week.

Goalkeeper – Charlie Berridge – Ramsey Crookall Bacchas Men’s B

  • In Charlie’s debut for Bacchas Men’s B, he played a superb game. Keeping a clean sheet and making a number of key saves throughout he was named player of the match in a big win for his side.

Defence – Simon Phythian – J. Qualtrough & Co Castletown Men’s C

  • In a close game for Castletown Men’s C, Simon was crucial in keeping his side in the fight. He made some crucial tackles in defence and distributed the ball well to set up a number of attacks.

Defence – Charlotte Hunter – Ramsey Ladies A

  • Despite a loss Charlotte still played a great game at the back for Ramsey ladies A. She was named player of the game for her efforts in stopping the opposition a number of times.

Defence – Will Hassall – Athena Healthcare Harlequins A

  • Although on the wrong end of the scoreline, Will was a complete player for Harlequins Men’s A. He grabbed a goal, made a goal line save and covered the whole pitch throughout the 70. 

Defence – Kerry Jones – Motorworx Valkyrs Ladies A

  • Kerry produced a defensive masterclass for Valkyrs Ladies A in a big win for her side. Her play at the back saw her named as player of the game. 

Midfielder – Richie Gelder – Canaccord Genuity Vikings Men’s B

  • Despite playing as a defensive midfielder, Richie still found himself on the scoresheet for Vikings Men’s B. He controlled the play from the middle of the pitch and created many chances for his side. 

Midfielder – Ryan Cartwright – Ramsey Crookall Bacchas U15s

  • Ryan produced a fantastic display for Bacchas U15s and was deservedly named player of the game for his efforts. Scoring twice and assisting on a number of occasions too he was fantastic throughout the match.

Midfielder – Geraldine Emsley – J. Qualtrough & Co Castletown Ladies D

  • Another impressive performance for Castletown Ladies D saw Geraldine take player of the game honours. Controlling the play from defensive midfield she was a key part in her side’s hard fought 2-2 draw against tough opposition.

Forward – Lara Smith – Athena Healthcare Harlequins Ladies B

  • In Harlequins Ladies B’s first win of the season, Lara was named player of the game. Bagging a hugely impressive four goals, she was exceptional throughout.

Forward – Tamsyn Cleavy – Motorworx Valkyrs Ladies B

  • Another player who bagged four goals this weekend was Tamsyn. Along with her prowess in front of goal, she helped her side in every area of the game in a big win for her team.

Forward – Alex Andrew – Canaccord Genuity Vikings Men’s A

  • Rounding out a high scoring forward line is Alex. The hat trick hero for Vikings Men’s A was named as player of the game for his efforts.
