The Island Junior Hockey Squads are gearing up for an exciting new season, and we’re on the lookout for passionate coaches and dedicated volunteers to join our team. If you have a love for hockey and a desire to support the development of young athletes, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
How You Can Get Involved
We need individuals to step forward and complete the volunteer form.
Commitment Details
Coaching commitment primarily involves leading regular training sessions held at the National Sports Centre (NSC) on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Sessions occur approximately twice a month for each age group. While it would be fantastic for coaches to accompany teams to fixtures, it is not a mandatory requirement.
Qualifications and Requirements
To ensure the highest standards of coaching, we ask that coaches meet the following criteria:
- Coaching Qualifications: Coaches should hold a recognised hockey coaching qualification or be actively working towards an England Hockey coaching qualification.
- Safeguarding: Coaches must hold current safeguarding certification, which can also be completed prior to starting any coaching activities.
- DBS Check: A Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required but can be arranged once you have committed to joining our team.
- First Aid: While not mandatory, a first aid certification is highly preferred.
Opportunities for Assistant Coaches
We also welcome unqualified coaching assistants. If you’re enthusiastic and willing to learn, we ask that you commit to registering for the England Hockey “Introduction to Hockey” course during the next season, which is conveniently available online.
