Mixed Hockey – Week 2 Team of Week
Goalkeeper – Jacob Carcas – J. Qualtrough & Co Castletown Cammags
- Despite a loss the young Castletown goalkeeper put on an excellent performance. Jacob showed great leadership and confidence, commanding Cammags play from the back. Producing a number of saves he kept Castletown in the fight throughout.
Defence – Suzi Slater – Canaccord Genuity Vikings D
- The intra club derby between Vikings C and D saw a number of impressive performances however Suzy Slater was awarded player of the match after a strong defensive performance thwarted a number of the C teams attacks.
Defence – Craig Killey – Motorworx Valkyrs A
- A stalwart of Valkyrs Hockey Club, Craig proved his value to the blues on a number of occasions on Saturday. The ever reliable centre back took control of the game and came up with a number of crucial tackles.
Defence – Harry Mackenzie – Ramsey Crookall Bacchas Bucks
- In the newly formed Bacchas Bucks first victory, Harry was named as player of the match by the umpires following a fantastic performance.
Midfield – Sam Clegg – Athena Healthcare Harlequins B
- Playing as both a centre back and central midfielder Sam controlled the play for Quins bagging himself a goal for his efforts and was vital in the creation of a number of chances.
Midfield – Dani Kelly – J. Qualtrough & Co Castletown Cushags
- Scoring twice in a seven goal victory over Valkyrs D, Dani was a menace for the Peel sides defence holding up the play on numerous occasions and allowing her team to score a hatful of goals.
Midfield – Mollie Dennett – Athena Healthcare Harlequins B
- Mollie was everywhere for Quins on Saturday. Playing mainly on the right side she was involved in every attack but also always the first back when defending and was named joint player of the match.
Midfield – Alfie Melling – Ramsey A
- Alfie played an excellent game in last weekend’s fixture versus Bacchas C. Although this match up did not end the way the northerners hoped, Alfie was a bright spot in their team.
Forward – Jacob Harding – Canaccord Genuity Vikings E
- A forward can’t ask for much more than a hatrick in a game and this is exactly what Jacob did in his game. A complete performance for the attacking midfielder.
Forward – Rhea Maher – Motorworx Valkyrs U15s
- In just her second under 15s game after being called up from the junior sides, Rhea scored three goals and announced herself as one to watch for the future.
Forward – Sophie Partington – Ramsey Crookall Bacchas Colts
- In a dominating 9-1 victory, Sophie scored a hatrick from her position as a right winger and was involved in a number of others. A complete performance saw her named as player of the match.
