Another week in the books means the third instalment of the Manx Hockey Associations Team of the Week with Quins players taking centre stage after 4 wins from 4 games this Saturday.
Goalkeeper: Juan Bellando – Motorworx Valkyrs A
- A thrilling game between Valkyrs A and Vikings B saw Juan named as player of the match. Producing a number of incredible saves the Isle of Man mens keeper kept a clean sheet and was instrumental in the victory.
Defence: Cara Yule – Canaccord Genuity Vikings B
- On the other side of the game above Cara was unlucky that the result didn’t go the way of her side. A great performance at the back saw her put her body on the line to stop Valkyrs at any cost.
Defence: Callum Green – Athena Healthcare Harlequins C
- In a 3-1 victory Callum was a key part of the win. Playing mainly as a centre back but straying into defensive midfield he was able to control the tempo and act as an inspiration for the younger players.
Defence: Isla Kelly – Motorworx Valkyrs U15s
- A debut performance in the under 15s league provided no obstacle for Isla. She played an excellent seventy minutes not letting her first game dissuade her. This is the second week in a row a Valkyrs U15s player has been named in the team of the week with the future looking bright for the westerners.
Half: Leah Mellor – Motorworx Bacchas C
- Despite not getting on the scoresheet, Isla’s work rate on the wing was one of the main reasons Bacchas C were able to net 7 goals this weekend. A tireless effort saw her named player of the match for her performance.
Half: Macey Crellin – Athena Healthcare Harlequins A
- In the first win of the season for Quins A the ever versatile Macey played a great goal. Being deployed as a centre mid as well as her usual wingback position she always played for the team and got on with the job at hand.
Defensive midfield: Elliot Henson – Athena Healthcare Harlequins B
- Despite pulling his hamstring forcing him to miss the later stages of the game. Elliot was crucial in a big win for the yellow and blacks. Bagging a goal on the way to a 7-0 result he covered every inch of the pitch, controlling play both going forwards and back.
Midfield: Olly Brew – Ramsey A
- Unfortunate not to grab more goals in their fixture this weekend, Ramsey A’s Olly Brew was a bright spark in midfield. He will be hoping to improve on his performance next week as Ramsey looks to get back in the win column.
Midfield: Saffy Miah – J. Qualtrough & Co Castletown Cammags
- One half of a formidable midfield duo, Saffy was relentless last Saturday. Her ability to press the opposition and force turnovers high up the pitch created numerous chances for the reds on the way to a 4-1 win.
Midfield: Eva Moore – Ramsey Crookall Bacchas Bucks
- Midfield dominance from Eva saw her named player of the match in a very tight contest. Competing with players almost twice her size she was able to control the tempo of the game and push her team forward.
Forward: Alex Andrew – Canaccord Genuity Vikings A
- One of the best young players currently playing on the Isle of Man, Alex bagged himself an impressive hat trick in a 4-2 victory. A goal machine this will certainly not be the last he will net in the premiership.
