A very late night due to the Manxman being stuck in mud meant the team only got to bed for 2am and were up again for an 8am breakfast and off on the road to Bolton for a 9.50am push back.
The travel shenanigans didn’t affect the girls one bit and they went straight on the offensive with Rhea converting an early opportunity on 4 minutes. Some quality passing and tireless running through the midfield with Faith W, Lauren, Cate, Eva and Erin created several more opportunities with a couple unfortunately going just wide of the goal.
Some very positive running from the forward line of Rhea, Gracie and Faith T again saw continued pressure resulting in a smart finish from Faith T from the right.
The game continued with Thirsk settling in and causing a threat going forward however the defence of Darcy K, Flo, Mya and Bethany stood firm with some excellent tackling which kept the attacks at bay and composed play saw opportunities to link with the midfield and move forward.
The second half continued with solid play from both teams creating opportunities however a goal from Rhea on 41 minutes saw a strong 3 – 0 lead settle the team.
Thirsk were rewarded with a goal on 55 minutes following a spell of pressure although some excellent saves by Darcy G kept them at bay and the IOM girls battled through and worked tirelessly to the final whistle ensuring their well earned victory.
Possibly one of the best all round team performances to date and a mark of the progress the young group have made throughout the season.
