Tomorrow sees three senior IOM Teams heading over to the North West to play England Hockey Championship matches.
The Ladies A get their England Hockey Tier campaign underway after progressing from the first round due to Lymm conceding. They face Liverpool Sefton—a familiar opponent and their third meeting in four years. Their last encounter ended in a tight 2–1 loss, a match that pushed the squad all the way.
This year’s team features a strong blend of experience and youth, with several B-team players stepping up and keen to prove themselves. Despite some recent weather disruptions to training, the squad has prepared well and is raring to go.
A win would secure a place in Round 3, while a loss would see them continue their journey in the Tier 2 Plate.
Both Isle of Man Men’s teams are heading to Preston for their respective England Hockey Championship matches.
The 2nd team are first up in Preston with a Tier 3 clash against Triton Men’s 1s. After a strong cup run last season—reaching the semi-finals of the Tier 3 Plate—they’ll be eager to go deep in the competition once again. Triton present an unknown challenge, so quick adaptation will be key to progressing.
Following immediately after, the 1st team face Preston Men’s 1s in a repeat of last season’s thrilling second-round match, where Preston edged a dramatic 6–5 victory. Sitting 3rd in the North West Premier Division, Preston will provide a stern test—but the Manx side are hungry for revenge and ready to push for a place in the next round.
Best of luck to all those taking part!
