Castletown Southerners, sponsored by J Qualtrough & Sons Ltd., met Ramsey Crookall Bacchas B in the Premiership and a great game unfolded between two sides keen to get some more points on the board.

After a disappointing result in their last outing, Town were keen to put in a good performance and did indeed start brightly. Town had some positive play going forwards in the first 10-15 minutes but lacked a clinical edge in the D to convert any chances. Bacchas then started to put some good phases of play together and the pressure they applied was rewarded with a goal each from Jack Grimley and Karl Moore before half time.

The second half started much as the first ended, with Bacchas getting a lot of the ball which led to Luca Parlato converting a corner to take a 3-0 lead. Midway through the second half Town managed to find some rhythm and strung some really nice attacking moves together which resulted in a really well taken goal by Kasper Grounds, after being set up nicely by Molly Howland.

The goal kicked Town into another gear and Molly turned scorer to deflect home a great ball into the D by Zoe Shimmin. Town kept on pushing but in the end time was against them and the game ended 3-2 to Bacchas.

A great battle between the 2 teams and a really enjoyable game to play in.

In Division 3, Zeta Group Harlequins C took the points with a 4–2 win over Vikings Mixed 3 after a fast start and a strong middle spell proved enough to hold off a second-half Vikings fightback.

Quins opened the scoring early with a goal from Harrie Swales on his C team debut before Vikings responded from a penalty corner, with Sam Spooner turning the ball in to level. Harlequins C then took control as their younger players shifted the ball quickly up the pitch with simple, accurate passing, which led to goals from Ben Walmsley, also on his C team debut, and David Smith to make it 3-1 at half time.

Vikings, sponsored by Canaccord Wealth and Appleby, tightened up after the break and got a second goal back when Spooner found the net again. As tiredness set in, Harlequins pressed forward for more, forcing Vikings into deep defence.  Harlequins David Smith scored his second from a penalty corner to make it 4-1.

Vikings had one final chance from a penalty corner at the end, but Harlequins C held on for the win.

The U15 Division saw another game where every player on the pitch gave 100% effort through out the game.

Some well thought through passing – working up the wings – and into the Ramsey D, allowed Daniel Lace Joinery Valkyrs, Benjamin Curphey to bag the first goal of the game. Soon followed with some determined play to win the ball around the goal line, with 2 goals from Jasper Anderson in quick succession. Isabella Sheeley also causing a stir in the D and was unlucky with her superb efforts on goal.

The 10 player ATLA RDA Ramsey team had a number of chances in the first half and were held back by some fantastic saves from Layla Mayer.

After half time Ramsey were solid and clinical with their attack, scoring a run of excellent goals from Oli Crossley, Cam Eyres and Jed Dixon-Howells (2).  However Valkyrs’ Alfie Jacobs demonstrated his strength in the midfield scored a hat trick in the second half and the joint efforts of Sim Gelling and Finlo Quayle in the middle, led to them taking a goal each, to bring the final score to 8-4 to Valkyrs.

PoTM:  Layla Mayer (Valkyrs) and Harrison Crossley (Ramsey)
